A Allen & Heath SQ-5 é uma mesa de mistura digital de 48 canais e 36 barramentos, ideal para som ao vivo, áudio-visual corporativo, estúdios de gravação e locais de culto. A SQ-5 dispõe de 16+1 faders motorizados e 16 pré-amplificadores de microfone de qualidade profissional. Conta ainda com oito motores de efeitos estéreo com canais de retorno dedicados e acesso à biblioteca RackExtra FX. As 12 saídas estéreo da mesa (configuráveis como grupos ou auxiliares) são especialmente adequadas para sistemas de monitorização intra-auricular (in-ear), enquanto a função de mistura automática de microfones (Auto Mic Mixing) oferece uma operação rápida e intuitiva para conferências, debates e muito mais.

No coração da SQ-5 encontra-se o motor XCVI Core FPGA de 96 kHz, que proporciona áudio profissional de alta resolução, latência ultra-baixa (inferior a 0,7 ms), profundidade de bits variável para melhor desempenho em precisão e ruído, coerência de mistura até ao nível da amostra, e capacidade para gerir elevados números de canais/misturas, bem como processamento de efeitos abundante. A arquitectura de processamento DEEP da SQ permite seleccionar emulações de compressores e pré-amplificadores de boutique, integrando-os directamente nos canais de entrada e de mistura, sem acrescentar latência ao sistema ou complicações na configuração.

O painel frontal é centrado num écran táctil capacitivo de 7″, ladeado por codificadores iluminados de alta aderência, que oferecem um feedback visual claro e controlo prático e rápido. Pode-se arrastar e soltar canais e misturas para qualquer tira de fader, com possibilidade de nomeação personalizada e codificação por cores, permitindo construir um ambiente de mistura adaptado ao seu fluxo de trabalho. A SQ-5 inclui ainda teclas programáveis (softkeys), que podem ser livremente atribuídas a qualquer função para um fluxo de trabalho mais avançado e personalizado. O gravador incorporado utiliza uma porta USB Tipo A para gravar sessões estéreo e multifaixa directamente para uma pen USB. O gravador também permite a reprodução de ficheiros estéreo e multifaixa, ideal para verificações sonoras virtuais (virtual soundchecks) e mistura em estúdio.

A SQ-5 oferece opções de expansão através dos expansores de palco (stage boxes) da Allen & Heath, ou através da instalação de uma placa opcional Dante ou Waves, para adaptar e expandir utilizando as mais recentes tecnologias digitais. A série SQ é totalmente compatível com o ME Personal Mixing System, permitindo que os músicos controlem as suas próprias misturas de monitorização. Qualquer número de misturadores pessoais ME-1 e ME-500 pode ser ligado em cadeia a partir da porta SLink da mesa ou de um expansor remoto ligado.
